I will have to look-up an obituary for Thomas to see if I can find any info on his family. I did find a site on line that listed obit/marriages/death/census and found the following:

Margaret went to So Dakota to study nursing in 1911. She married Roy Bisbee. They had one son Ralph who was a prominent musician. Her husband dies early- while on a boating outing- in her arms. This is all new to me, so I hope it is accurate and will keep plugging along.
Patrick was working as a farm hand for a family named Carroll.

The family attended the Catholic Church in Menona and became familiar with the locals. Patrick and James left for South Dakota to Homestead along with John Carroll (wife Mary Ryan) and Mary's Aunt Ellen Bennett, and found the land not too fertile compared to the beautiful soil in Iowa. In Patrick's Homsteading papers, when asked if patrick had been a resident in Aurora, South Dakota, James replied "all except for one month where he went home to get him a wife". We have not been able to locate the marriage records for Patrick McGovern and Ellen Ryan, but know it was that one week.........

Things did not work out in South Dakota, and the group all moved on:
Patrick and wife Ellen and 2 kids Margaret and patrick moved to South Omaha
James went back to Iowa and lived with his brother Thomas and his family (Dad lived there too)John and mary Carroll moved to Chicago
Ellen Bennett also moved to Chicago
